Two Essential No-Cost Marketing Tools for Online Marketing

by | Feb 17, 2020 | Marketing & Selling

Not everything in the online marketing world costs money. You can actually get a fairly good start with online marketing with minimal investment. The basic expenses will be hosting and domain, which you can get for less than $100 per year. There are some email marketing services, such as MailChimp, that start out free and then cost a minimal amount once you’ve grown your list. But there are also no-cost marketing tools that will always remain free and should form the backbone of your online marketing efforts.

Two Essential No-Cost Marketing Tools for Online Marketing

These two essential no-cost marketing tools help you first get discovered by your target market and then fine-tune your attraction marketing efforts.

Keyword Research

Did you know that 80 percent of your website’s traffic will come from search engines? This is why keyword research is, well, key. Keywords and phrases are the most important ingredient in your search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. You’ll need to use them in your “H” tags, your “ALT” tags, your page titles and your content. You should also use them in articles you submit as guest posts to help promote your website. Therefore, you’ll need to do some keyword research.

Luckily for all of us, there are several free keyword research tools available online. The two I recommend are:

  1. WordStream: www.wordstream.com/keywords
This is a free service where you can enter the keywork you’re researching to find similar keywords.
  2. Keyword Too: keywordtool.io
    Another simple-to-use keyword research tool.
  3. SEO Book: www.seobook.com
I use this the most because it has two keyword tools. One is a keyword research tool like the others above. The other is a keyword density tool that helps me discover which keyword phrase would be best to optimize an article I’ve already written.

Keeping Track of Statistics

You will need to study your website’s statistics. This way you’ll be able to figure out what you’re doing wrong, as well as what you’re doing correctly. There are a couple of tools online that can help you do that.

  1. StatCounter: statcounter.com
  2. Google Analytics: marketingplatform.google.com/about/analytics

If you’re using a self-hosted WordPress site, there are a few plugins that are very good for this, as well.

Both of these tools can help you get started in online marketing without much cash outlay, as well as improve your website’s traffic performance. Give them a try. Chances are, you’ll realize that the best things in life can be free after all.
