What motivates you to get up in the morning and start working? And, when you aren’t getting things done like you think you should, where did that motivation go? First, let me tell you that you can still get things done if you aren’t motivated — it’s just more of […]

Procrastination is a real schedule buster. At times it can be so easy to put things off until later, but if you do that too often, nothing gets done.
There are plenty of reasons people procrastinate:
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Dislike of the task
- Mis-alignment of task and person
I’d like to talk a little about each one and provide some tips and advice for overcoming them.
Sometimes, when a task seems so big and overwhelming, you can feel so daunted that it is easier just not to start. You may not know where to start. Or you may feel like nothing you do toward that goal seems to get you anywhere. One way to overcome this challenge is to break the larger task into smaller, easier to handle tasks. Give each mini-task a deadline, so that you can still feel accomplishment. And be realistic about how quickly the tasks can be completed. If you are still getting behind, you can always re-evaluate the time you’ve allotted and give your self more time.
Dislike of the task
For me, cleaning the floors and dusting the house are the things I procrastinate the most because of this reason. I really don’t like cleaning. One way to overcome this challenge is to delegate the task to someone who does it better than you and, possibly, even enjoys the task. Another is to take a look at the task and see if it really needs to be done. If not, take it off your schedule. (Boy, I wish I could do that to cleaning!)
I’m sure you have a bright idea hidden somewhere in the back of your mind that you just can’t wait to test out. But, for some reason, you’re just not doing it. Maybe your mindset is blocking your action. Remember, a correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make things easier, and even enjoyable. Why not make 2008 the year you achieve your goals and bring that idea to life?
Here are some tips to make it through the week even if you’re just sitting in your favorite couch. An idea takes time to form in your head and is always at work while you are busy sitting.
Having a bit of positive thinking can help you realize things that you may never have thought possible. Thinking big is indeed the entrepreneurial way and that is what makes many small businesses prosperous.
1. Take passionate action toward living your life by design.
Talk is cheap. Action = deposits in the bank of a passionately authentic future. Without it, passion is void. This is a perfect example of where dreams are made of where you start by tinkering with your mind, then with your hands. And if the idea weakens, you can always go back to it later until you finish it.
2. Commit to yourself, as well as those you love, to create powerfully a life you can love.
Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. Your dream can always be there, but a dream will still be a dream without motion. You might be amazed as the transformation begins.
Sometimes, there is a huge gap between knowing something and doing something about it. This is as true with the Law of Attraction as it is with everything else.
Like everything that resembles the Law of Attraction, people often get discouraged very easily at the beginning, because the promises of great things brought on by the philosophy doesn’t happen when they want it to or as fast as they want it to. The bottom line is that the Law of Attraction worked one million years ago and it works today in 2007.
Being patient is the key to success in everything and it is the same thing with this way of living. Once you understand how it works, you will realize that you need to be specific about what you desire and truly believe it will happen. For example most people begin with wishing for more money. They’ll do this for a whole 15 minutes. However, for the remaining twenty three hours and forty five minutes of the day, they will wonder how they will ever make it through, with their money problem.
That’s not the way it works. Negative thoughts lead to negative things happening. In the scenario above, which thought do you think was stronger? The bad one, of course. The Law of Attraction is powerful, but it cannot compensate for a preponderance of negative thought.
But don’t despair, there is a way to correct this; just feel what you wish for by writing your wish down. This is called scripting. When you use scripting, you’re really helping your cause.
Did you know that perhaps as many as half of all entrepreneurs have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Are you one of them?
At first glance, it would seem that the topics of positive thinking and ADD have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.
Practicing positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increasing happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns (of course, if you don’t have ADD, these tips will work for you, as well):
1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It’s much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.
2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don’t seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference. As for myself, mentally listing those things I’m thankful for is the last thing I do each day before shutting my eyes and going to sleep. I figure it makes for good dreams.
Since The Secret came out, the Law of Attraction has, well, gained a lot of traction. Some people praise it. Others try to vilify it. But mostly, there is a lot of confusion about it.
The Law of Attraction isn’t new, and it’s been available to all humans whether they are small, large, black or white, Christian or Muslim, since the dawn of time. You see, we have the ability as humans to get exactly what we want in life. The key to gaining the most out of the Law of Attraction is to be conscious of these powers and understand how to use them.
O.K. This post may repeat a bit of what was posted on Dec. 1, but I think it bears repeating. These are the key concepts of the Law of Attraction and they are the keys to your success in life and business.
We are thinking thought most of the day. Of course, most of them are very mundane. However, we could, if we wanted to, think of how it would be to be like to have what we wanted. For example, if you want to be rich, think like a rich person. If you want to be svelte, think like a svelte person. You get the picture.
When it comes to having a successful business, you need to be — at least in the eyes of your clients, customers and business partners.
Let me tell you a little story about myself. I’m an introvert and am quite shy. People who know me, however, don’t believe me when I say that — until they see me at a gathering of people I don’t know.
I seem to have the knack for doing what I need to do, when I need to do it, with an air on confidence. For example, when I was in my mid-20s, I moved to Southern California for a job and rented a place of my own. The people I met there told me I was brave to move to a place where I knew not a soul. But I didn’t feel that way — my other option was to be jobless and living at home with my mother. (I love you, Mom, but I’m a big girl now and want to live on my own.)
People who have self-confidence seem to accept any challenge that they are posed with and are able to overcome those challenges with ease and success. At least that’s how it seems. That’s the point of my little story — you don’t have to think you’re confident to act confidently.
People invest millions of dollars each year attending seminars and counseling sessions to discover the self-confidence that they lack. In this article, I will review the steps you need to take to gain self-confidence — without the added expense.
The theme for December’s posting is “Mindset.” You might be amazed at how powerful how you think about yourself and your business determines your success. Since December is a good time to start planning out your New Year’s resolutions, I thought this would be the best time to talk about mindset, for without the proper mindset, all your plans will be for naught. First, lets explore a hot topic right now — The Law of Attraction.
Attraction is everywhere; even our cells attract themselves in our body. But does mind power and attraction go together? In a word, yes.
The Law of Attraction is sort of the medium between the physical and the non-physical world. Basically, without it, we wouldn’t really have the things we want the most. Science has finally been able to prove that there is a direct link between what we get and the Power of Attraction. In fact it can even look at the attraction in the physical sense.
What can be said about this mind power? Basically it’s what we think. We think therefore we are. And what we think about expands. We could even say that it’s our thoughts that influence our daily lives.
A cake is just a cake right? If this is the case, a thought is just a thought, no? But that’s not really the case when you add feeling to that thought. Together, thought and feeling, have great power. And, the choice of how to feel is yours to make.
