About mid-day yesterday a thought popped into my head: How about pancakes for dinner? So I called my boyfriend and asked him if he’d like to join me for some pancakes and bacon for dinner.

He said, “Yes! That’s a great idea!”

Now, I had purchased some frozen blueberries a week or so ago specifically to make blueberry pancakes. I just never got around it. The idea was that if the berries are frozen, they wouldn’t break and turn my pancakes purple. Well, last night I gave it a try.

Nope. The pancakes were VERY purple — but they were also juicy, and naturally sweet, and absolutely delicious.

There are times when odd — sometimes even crazy — ideas will pop into your head. And sometimes, you need to honor them.

I evaluate my “crazy” ideas this way:

  • How crazy is this idea?
  • Will implementing it cause harm in any way?
  • What potential benefits will trying this idea out give me?

Well, blueberry pancakes for dinner isn’t all that crazy — plenty of people eat breakfast for dinner. The only harm I could think of was to my waistline — and not necessarily if I exercise and eat right the rest of the week. And the potential benefit was to my taste buds! I’ve also learned that when you have a craving, it will haunt you until you satisfy it. More than likely, there was some nutrient found in blueberry pancakes my body needed.

So yesterday I celebrated listening to my body and giving it what it craved. A good time was had by all — especially my taste buds!
