Fear of Failure

Are you letting the fear of failure stop you in your tracks? Then you need to check out today’s Weekday Wisdom!

Weekday Wisdom with Carma Spence Episode 4 Fear of Failure

Today’s quote comes from Frederick Smith, the founder, chairman, president, and CEO of FedEx, and he said

“Fear of failure
must never be a reason
not to try something.”

The reason I want to talk about this is that I understand that fear of failure stops us in our tracks in one of two places.

  1. It stops us from ever starting something that we really want to do because we’re afraid that we’ll suck at it. So why even try?
  2. Or it stops right in the middle of doing something because we’re afraid that we don’t know what we’re doing.

And the thing is fear of failure should not stop you. Don’t let it stop you.

Fear of failure comes from self-doubt, a lack of self-worth, a lack of self-confidence. However, nine times out of 10, this fear is completely false. Most of the time, when you set out to do something, you end up doing it. Yes, you may not end up with your original vision of whatever it is, but you do accomplish some part of it.

And, yes, along the way, there may be mini-failures, or obstacles, or challenges, that you need to surmount because this is a learning process. You’re learning something new because you haven’t done it before.

Again, I say to you, don’t let the fear of failure stop you. Do it anyway because any failure or obstacle that you encounter along the way is just a learning experience that’s going to help you get better and better and better.

Push forward. Keep calm and push on.

Keep Calm and Push On

And remember

Don’t box yourself in.
Spread your wings and fly.
You are capable of more than you know.
