Weekday Wisdom Episode 100
How many times have you had a plan go exactly the way you planned it? Probably less often that you wish. But, as it turns out, this is totally O.K.
Back in 2010, I got the idea for a book. And this idea grew into this wonderful, big vision.
However the person I was back in 2010 wasn’t who I needed to be, nor did she have the resources to bring that vision to fruition.
I had a choice. I could either:
- Give it all up and not pursue my dream. Or,
- I could take the steps that I could take to start moving that project forward.
Guess which choice I made?
Yes, I moved forward.
I interviewed about 90 speakers for this book that I had called Public Speaking Super Powers. And then for the next eight years, I struggled in getting all those audios transcribed, having the time to write the book, getting an editor, and a publisher … all that stuff. This is my most ambitious book to date and took a lot of research, time, money and effort to bring it to life.
Then, a couple of years ago, everything started coming together. It just snowballed.
I am so happy to say that Public Speaking Super Powers is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.
You can get the book in e-book, paperback, and hardback, which, frankly, is well beyond what I thought I’d be able to do with this book. And, I’ve got an audio book in the works, as well as a companion workbook.
And that’s all because I started from where I was and continued to move forward, not losing sight of my vision. No matter how many obstacles got in my way, I kept saying, “I’ve got this vision. I need to go toward it.” And I kept moving toward it.
It turns out that waiting the eight years was the perfect thing to do. I’ve partnered with a publisher, Author Academy Elite. And I’ve got a book coach.
And all these things wouldn’t have happened if I had just gone with what I could do back in 2010 and compromised my vision … or given up.
Yes, things don’t always go according to plan. However, sometimes, all those obstacles that you think are stopping you from getting what you want, are actually things you need to do so that you can get better than what you want.
Therefore, if you’ve got a big vision — it’s lighting a fire in your belly — but you know that you don’t have everything you need in place to make that vision come true, don’t give up! Start heading toward that vision anyway. Who knows what will happen?
