Power Thought: Be Resolved To Succeed

Abraham Lincoln “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

What This Quote Means to Business:
In order to succeed, you must choose to succeed. And you must continuously choose to succeed each step of the way. You must be fully committed to success and resolved to do what it takes to make that success happen in order for it to happen.

There will be many moments when you will be faced with a choice to do the less than easy thing to attain the success you want. You can take the easy road and wallow in mediocrity. Or you can face what ever challenge lies before you and revel in the success of your desires.

Yes, sometimes you will face challenges that will make you feel, however temporarily, like a failure. But, when you are resolved to succeed, you will view those setback as Thomas Edison did … you’ve learned a way not to do something.

This resolution comes from having a big “why” behind your desire for success. This why needs to excite you, fill you with passion and burn a fire in your belly. Your why must be bigger than the many why nots that you will face.

Try out this exercise:

Write down a list of the top five things you really want to accomplish with your life and/or business.

Now answer this question for each one: Why is this goal important to you? Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

Now take a look at your whys. How does each one make you feel? If the answer is “Yes!” … you’ve got a bit why. If the answer is in any way ho-hum or refers to something outside yourself, that goal, more than likely, doesn’t have a big enough why to sustain you through the journey to accomplishing it.
