Weekday Wisdom, Episode 16
Are you a planner? Then that bodes well for your business.
Today I’m going to share with you excerpts from a Facebook live in which I talk about the second trait of successful entrepreneurs. That is that they create actionable plans.
I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage about that if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Well, this is true of any entrepreneur and it is especially true for hobbypreneurs.
You need to know where you’re going in order to get there. And with hobbypreneurs, because what they’re turning into a business or side income, is so much fun they often fail to plan. Therefore they create products that don’t go anywhere. They struggle to find and enroll clients. And, they end up being really despondent about what is going on in their business.
Therefore, it’s really, really important that you create an actionable plan. Not just a plan, but one you can take action on.
In broad strokes, you have a big picture. Then you create steps needed to get you from where you are to that big picture. And then you create actions that you need to take each and every day, or week or month that will bring those steps to fruition. You need to make your plan something that you could actually do, that won’t overwhelm you, and that you can follow along.
Again, this isn’t something that only special people can do. You can do this. You can sit down and create an outline of steps that you need to take, and then you can start taking them.
Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get through your steps as quickly as you initially thought. Believe me, I’ve been there. Probably more often than not, I’ve been more ambitious than what was actually feasible. I’ll think, “Oh, yeah, I can do that in a month.” And it takes me five. So, don’t worry about it. As long as you’re constantly making forward momentum, that’s the important thing.
Don’t box yourself in.
Spread your wings and fly.
You — yes you — are capable of so much more than you know.
