This month’s theme is “Creating Business Partnerships.” Throughout January, my posts will be exploring the many ways that we create partnerships within our businesses and how to leverage them to grow our business.

What is a mentor? According to dictionary.com a mentor is:
“1. a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
2. an influential senior sponsor or supporter.”
Therefore, by extrapolation, a business mentor would be someone you counsels or teaches you about improving your business, or someone who sponsors or supports your business.
If someone is helping you improve your business, don’t you think he or she has a vested interest in your success? If you hired your mentor, your mentor wants you to succeed if only to get a good testimonial and some decent referrals. By becoming your mentor, he or she has become a partner in your business.
If someone sponsors or supports your business in some way, he or she most definitely has a vested interest in your success.
