Weekday Wisdom, Episode 41

Do you take care of yourself physically and emotionally? That’s what we’re going to talk about in today’s Weekday Wisdom.

Do you take care of yourself physically and emotionally?

In yesterday’s episode, Episode 40, I gave you a quiz about how balanced your life was and how happy you can be. And, I promised you that for the next 16 videos I would explain each of the true or false questions. Today is question number one and that is:

The only way I can successfully manage my life
is to take care of myself physically and emotionally.

Why is it important to take care of yourself in both of these realms? Well, obviously physically is important. If you aren’t healthy, if you aren’t able to express your full energy physically, then it’s really hard to do anything. And believe me, I know this. After being hit by a car two years and a few days ago, I’m still not up to my physical potential. I still am dealing with all these physical ailments. I still use a cane. Because of this, I’m more tired and I don’t have the energy I used to have. And it’s impacting every aspect of my life. So, health is a very high priority for me these days.

This really pushes forth the idea that if you eat right, if you get enough exercise, if you take care of this temple of your mind and your soul, then you will have the energy to accomplish that which you came here to accomplish.

Why is it important to take care of yourself emotionally? Some people don’t pay as much attention to this aspect of their health. However, your emotional health is just as important as your physical health.

If you suffer from depression, which I have in my past, it is hard to get up the gumption to do anything. I remember back in my early 30s, I was suffering from depression so badly I couldn’t not be crying for more than 15 minutes at a time. And that prevented me from going to the grocery store! Because I didn’t want people to see me crying, I was so depressed. Now, fortunately for me, B vitamins cured that right up. But that’s not the case for everyone.

Another thing, after being hit by a car, I’ve struggled against PTSD. That’s an emotional/psychological bit of health that can stop you in your tracks.

If you are having emotional problems — whatever they are — whether they’re small or whether they’re grand, they can stop you from doing the things you need to do to accomplish the goals you want to accomplish.

So, if you answered false to this question, you might want to start taking a look at how you can take better care of your physical body and your heart. Because those two things are required to do you want to do in life.

Remember:
Don’t box yourself in.
Spread your wings and fly.
Because you — yes you — are capable of more than you know.
