Weekday Wisdom, Episode 42
Do you take time to nurture yourself? That’s what we’re going to talk about in today’s Weekday Wisdom.
In episode 40 of the Weekday Wisdom, I gave you a quiz to find out how well you manage your life. And then I promised to explain each of the true or false questions in the upcoming videos. This is the second one in that series.
Question number two was:
enlarges my capacity to help others.
I touched a little bit on this in yesterday’s video when I talked about how taking care of yourself physically and emotionally helped you achieve your goals. And, honestly, this is just another way of phrasing the same thing.
When you nurture yourself — and that’s in all eight areas of your life — you are able to become more. You’re able to expand your capacity to help yourself and to help others.
When you fuel yourself, it’s like when you’re in an airplane and they say the oxygen mask will drop down, please put it on your face before putting on others’ faces. You need to take care of yourself first so that you have the energy and the capacity to help others.
If you take care of others before yourself, more than likely you will be drained and drained and drained and you will become resentful. So, if you aren’t nurturing yourself, take some time starting today. Find out what nurturing yourself means to you. Then make sure you do something to nurture yourself every week, if not every day.
Don’t box yourself in.
Spread your wings and fly.
Because you — yes you — are capable of more than you know.
