Why do all this? The Benefits of Planning

by | Oct 29, 2010 | Planning Your Business

whyI was recently on a teleseminar where the leader mentioned that massive action always trumps planning. And, to some degree I think she’s right. If you throw enough sharpened pencils at the ceiling, some will eventually stick.

But if your massive action is taking you in a direction you don’t care to go, where does that leave you? Someplace you don’t want to be.

I’ve experienced this myself. I’m very good at taking action … I get an idea, I act on it. But because I wasn’t sure where I wanted all this action to take me, I ended up with things I didn’t want or care about.

So, taking some time … a few hours at most … to create the simple business and marketing plan I’ve outlined in this month’s posts and delve a little deeper into in my Plan Your Business Vision program, can help you take the right massive action.

And there is the key.

A little planning is better than none. A little planning helps guide your actions so they take you in the direction you want to go. A little planning can give you peace of mind that you know in which direction the light at the end of the tunnel can be found.

In fact, hailing back to the first post of the month, do you think that Will Smith was laying bricks randomly? Of course not. He knew what the wall he wanted to build looked like. He knew where each brick needed to be laid. That was planned out. And, once planned, he was able to focus on each brick and make it the best laid brick ever.

And that is why you should do all this.
